I didn’t cure you, only God can heal. Actually what I did, was to teach you how to cure yourself and that will be useful to you all your life.”
~ Dr. Ulric Williams

A large part of becoming empowered to take responsibility for your health involves staying away from the medical system whenever possible. In this interview with New Zealand’s Dr. Samantha (“Sam”) Bailey, we discuss how to build a first aid kit at home and how to keep your body healthy and combat the Great Poisoning. We also consider how to determine when to visit the hospital for medical help and identify sources to navigate a hospital stay.

Dr. Sam Bailey trained and worked as a conventional doctor for over two decades before a new understanding of health compelled her to leave the medical system. In 2020, she launched what became her country’s largest YouTube health channel, gaining an international following. She and her husband, Dr. Mark Bailey, have made their extensive collection of medical and health information freely available through their website. Dr. Sam is co-author of the best-selling book Virus Mania, which examines the medical industry’s continual invention of epidemics; in their book The Final Pandemic, the Baileys bring readers to the realization that there is no need to participate in these man-made “crises” or germ theory fear porn ever again.

Fortunately, by developing the confidence and knowledge to handle injuries and other conditions on your own, there are many situations in which it is possible to stay out of the emergency room (ER). (To assist you in this learning journey, we have included a PDF of my personal “first aid tips and tricks” in the links below.) We do, however, recommend planning for the contingency of an ER visit ahead of time, considering how you will advocate for yourself or others. For parents bringing a child to the ER, it is particularly important to know how to navigate a system that is only too happy to abrogate parental decision-making about interventions and treatments.

In 2022, Dr. Sam published Terrain Therapy, a book that brings back to life the important writings of New Zealand surgeon-turned-naturopath Dr. Ulric Williams (1890–1971). In the final part of this interview, we have an enjoyable time discussing Williams’ view that disease generally comes from “either an unhealthy way of life” or “unhappiness in the mind and spirit,” and that “perfect health” is possible through “right eating, right thinking and right living with an appreciation of the relationship between body, mind and spirit.”
