Blast from the Past: Week of Feb. 7, 2022: Control Files

Continuing our discussions on the need to “stop the passports” as one of our paramount goals for 2022, we return to “control files” and how they help shape the events unfolding before our eyes. Control happens one person at a time. Considering that AI and ubiquitous surveillance have made our homes, relationships, and minds far more transparent, control files are no longer only there to command the actions of public servants. We must understand that such a “file” exists on an individualized basis for each one of us.

This short article from 2012 has not lost its relevance 10 years later – and continues to take on more meaning.
