Music of the Week: September 6, 2024: Lynda Tait Randle – God on the Mountain

Catherine is on her home turf in Tennessee this weekend, meeting and greeting with our special Solari subscribers from the area.

With this week’s music, we travel to the Southern states with the beautifully mellow alto voice of Lynda Randle, who rose to Southern Gospel stardom through the Gaither Homecoming music videos and tours. Starting in the 1990s, Bill Gaither’s efforts brought a surge of popularity to the traditional gospel music of the South, and his platform and music publishing company supports numerous gospel music pioneers.

“God on the Mountain” is the original 1975 composition of Tracy Dartt, who wrote it in the middle of the night during one of life’s difficult periods. The song is so famous that it has its own documentary.

Life is easy, when you're up on the mountain
And you've got peace of mind, like you've never known
But things change, when you're down in the valley
Don't lose faith, for you're never alone
For the God on the mountain, is the God in the valley
When things go wrong, He'll make them right
And the God of the good times
Is still God in the bad times
The God of the day is still God in the night
