“The FBI has absolutely no business poking around in the private information of those who have obtained a concealed carry permit in Missouri.” ~ Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt
Our hero this week is a fine sheriff from Missouri standing up for the constitutional rights of his county citizens.
Sheriff Bryan Whitney publicly declared that he would not hand over information on permit holders of “concealed carry weapons” (CCW) to the FBI that is “routinely” auditing sheriff’s departments around the country.
The story shows how important it is to not only protect rights to gun ownership but the data of the owners, in particular those with a concealed carry permit. Why would a sheriff be unwilling to hand over personal details of gun owners to the FBI? Because these data may circulate to those who manufacture “terrorist attacks” and mass shootings to “foil” them. As Schuster Institute Senior Fellow Trevor Aaronson argues in his 2013 book The Terror Factory: Inside the FBI’s Manufactured War on Terrorism, most domestic terrorist plots since 9/11 were financed, planned, and planted by the FBI—for whatever reason.
Knowledge of who carries a concealed gun is invaluable to carry out such operations. Just this month in Indiana, it was a 22-year-old young man with a CCW who stopped a mass shooting at a shopping mall with his 9-millimeter Glock handgun, acting fast and with precision.
Sheriff Bryan Whitney knows what’s up. And he knows—point blank—that guns, indeed, help protect honest citizens. Point Blank is the title of one of the most comprehensive books on firearms, violence, and firearms control ever published. In it, Gary Kleck, professor of criminology and criminal justice at Florida State University, gives the empirical data that demonstrate that armed citizens are safer citizens. Gun ownership protects the honest citizens, particularly women.
