Professor Mark Skidmore’s new website and blog (Lighthouse Economics, http://mark-skidmore.com) is now open to the public.
Dr. Skidmore is Professor of Economics at Michigan State University where he holds the Morris Chair in State and Local Government Finance and Policy. His research covers topics in public finance, regional economics, and the economics of natural disasters. As the 2007-2009 Great Recession and financial crisis unfolded, Mark realized he was missing critical information he needed to fully understand what was happening. He came to the conclusion that major media outlets all too often fail to report on critical issues and provide misinformation. He now views current events from several vantage points in order to triangulate and thus gain a better understanding. Mark created Lighthouse Economics to share economic research and information relevant for navigating these tumultuous times.
