Let's Go to the Movies: Week of July 10, 2023: All Light, Everywhere

All Light, Everywhere is a fascinating documentary by Theo Anthony about the history of the artificial eye—the camera—and its entanglement with weaponry. Cameras and the military share a common language.

The film explores “surveillance” in obvious and not so obvious ways, considering how surveillance, observation, and perception impact our experience of the world. Whose world are we seeing? Are cameras “seeing” and witnessing impartially, or are they extracting data and creating a new narrative?

“From what history does the future train?”

Thought-provoking and informative.
