Mr. Sunshine tells a love story set in Hanseong (Seoul) in the early 1900s as Koreans fight for independence amid a series of wars and invasions.

In 1905, a Korean-American U.S. marine officer returns to his homeland on a diplomatic assignment. Coping with his painful past in Korea as an orphaned servant boy, he finds himself in a complicated relationship with an aristocrat's daughter.

From the creators of Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, Mr. Sunshine premieres on Netflix. The cinematography is extraordinary—at times the film seems more like a moving art show than a movie. This one is highly recommended.
