“I will continue our work to pass Constitutional Carry so all Louisiana[n]s can defend themselves without the overreaching governmental process.” ~ Kathy Edmonston
Kathy Edmonston is an American politician representing the Republican Party in the Louisiana House for District 88. Two new laws (Acts 674 and 675) authored by Edmonston and signed by Republican Governor Jeff Landry ensure that no school can mandate the Covid-19 vaccine for enrollment (Act 674) and enhance parents’ existing rights to exempt their children from vaccine mandates (Act 675), with the latter stipulating that all communications with parents regarding vaccine requirements must “include information relative to exemption from such requirements.” The newly enacted laws were prompted by pushback from previous Covid pandemic restrictions and mandates.
Edmonston holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Louisiana State University and is a retired family resource facilitator for Ascension Parish schools, where she dedicated 22 years to the education system across all 28 schools in the parish. Additionally, she served as a board member on the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. As a mother, grandmother, and advocate for children, she is committed to policies affecting Louisiana’s youth. She emphasizes the need to eliminate the “Woke Agenda” from public education, champions school choice, believes in empowering parents to make the best decisions for their children, and advocates for the protection of the unborn, whom she views as the most vulnerable members of society.
Edmonston asserts the importance of medical freedom for all Louisianans, criticizing the government overreach during the pandemic that sought to control personal medical choices. She firmly opposes unconstitutional mandates and is a strong proponent of the Second Amendment. Additionally, she is a passionate advocate for the oil and gas industry, arguing for the responsible use of natural resources to preserve American jobs and reduce dependency on foreign fuel. As she states on her website, “I have been fighting the good fight in the State House since 2020, and I do not plan on stopping any time soon. It would be an honor to continue to represent District 88 in the fight for freedom.”
We commend her for her dedication and initiatives aimed at safeguarding the rights and liberties of the people of Louisiana.
